About Us

Our History

The American Youth Ballet was founded by Natasha Bar as the American Youth Dance Academy. Mrs. Bar established the American Youth Dance Academy in January 2010 for the purpose of coaching and training students in clasical ballet.

Natasha believes that the art of ballet provides the means to introduce young artists to a personal sense of accomplishment and to the spirit of discipline. In addition Natasha believes that ballet develops character, poise, grace, and the mental and physical skills learned will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Natasha’s training in the Vaganova Technique, her experience performing with the Odessa Ballet Company for fifteen years as a soloist and principle dancer, along with training young ballet students, for thirty years, who have won awards in various ballet competitions, and students who have gone on to professional ballet companies such as40ew York City Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theater (ABT), and Broadway gave her a unique insight on how to train aspiring students of ballet.

During the summer of 2011 Mrs. Bar added Albert Davydov to the studio’s faculty. In October of 2011 Mrs. Bar appointed Albert as the Artistic Director for the studio. In February 2012 the American Youth Dance Academy changed its name to the American Youth Ballet. Albert’s ballet training with the Kazan Choreographic School of Ballet, his professional ballet career with the Tatar State Theater of Opera and Ballet and currently with the New Jersey Ballet Company, along his teaching experience makes him uniquely qualified to carry on Natasha’s vision. The American Youth Ballet is committed to providing quality coaching and training for ballet students, of all ages, with the desire excel in the ballet community and in life.
